Now that we are into December, I hope that this year we will not see any stories about banning Christmas carols. Since it is the start of the media silly season, silly stories like that seem to abound.
There was one story from California this week, where a 13-year-old student was stopped from choosing Joy to the World for her piano exam, because it was too religious. Even though she was only playing the tune, not singing the words.
Thankfully, sense prevailed in that case, and I hope it will throughout the Christmas period here.
After all, Joy to the World is what we need.
At Christmas, we celebrate God giving us Jesus – to bring us back to him.
That’s joyful – not fake news, but the one piece of good news our world needs.
