No Time To Not Be Praying

If your New Year’s resolution was to pray more – don’t stop now!

There are certainly many things to pray about as we near the end of the second month of the year.

We are thankful for some good rain in parts of the country, but the risk of fires still remains. In Canberra, the recent turn of extreme weather shows that we are far from the end of the bushfire crisis, let alone the drought.

Add to that the emerging threat of the Coronavirus and we see that 2020 has not started well. But, to be fair, each decade of our human existence has had its own challenges and times where we see that no matter how smart we humans become, how much we learn – in the end we depend on God.

As church leaders like Archbishop Glenn Davies have said – we need to help those suffering and continue in sustained and urgent prayer to God. Will you pray?

I’m Russell Powell for the NSW Council of Churches
