I think it is time for a bit of perspective about social media. The space is now chock full of so many things. Some of it helpful – quite a lot of it trivial and some things you would prefer not to see.
Some things are thought provoking and whether or not you agree with Israel Folau’s post about his beliefs – there is no doubt it was blown out of proportion.
Now that the Wallabies have been soundly beaten and bundled out of the rugby world cup – without Folau, who was arguably their best player or at the very least one they couldn’t afford to lose – I think the evidence is clear that it was the wrong way to handle it.
I remember the team culture several years ago embraced those with Christian beliefs and it showed in their results.
They used to trade on the slogan rugby was the game they play in heaven – well surely it can include players who actually believe in heaven.
