U.S. anti-abortion campaigner Troy Newman was detained by Australian Border Force officials in Melbourne on Thursday after boarding a flight to Australia despite having his visa cancelled.
Mr Newman is set to speak at events around the country organised by Right to Life Australia, which “defends the right to life of all human beings from conception until natural death.”
Mr Newman has apparently coauthored a book describing women who have abortions as “murderers,” and asking why doctors who perform abortions are not executed, leading one Australian politician to say that a person holding such views “clearly fails the Australian community’s character test.”
On Facebook Mr Newman said, “Through a chain of events the Lord has allowed me to get on a plane in spite of many objections … Please pray that we can get past immigration so the truth can be told throughout Australia.”
The truth is it’s morally wrong to advocate killing people simply because you don’t like them.
