#1091 for broadcast on 2CH Sydney, 28 June 2015.
In a recent column for Eternity magazine, the Reverend Dr Michael Jensen remarked that a lot of sitting is done in church. When this happens, Dr Jensen says, we can expect that
Worlds will be rocked. The impossible will become possible. Hope will miraculously appear in the hopeless. Joy will come to the grief-stricken. Acts of love between enemies will take place. Stingy people will reach for their wallets to give generously to those in need…
The task of the faithful listener is to exercise faithful discernment: to weigh up what is being said … to check against the norm of Scripture, that this is indeed what God would say.
When were you last sitting in church? When did you last hear a word from God?
I’m Rod Benson for the NSW Council of Churches.
