The World Evangelical Alliance has joined Christians in Israel and Palestine in calling for an immediate end to violent hostilities in Gaza.
WEA Secretary General, Dr Geoff Tunnicliffe, stated earlier this year in a speech in Bethlehem: “The suffering, grief and despair of Christians, Muslims or Jews are an affront to humanity. Their suffering, grief and despair are an affront to God.”
Dr Munir Kakish, Chairman of the Council of Local Evangelical Churches in the Holy Land, representing evangelical Christians in the Palestinian Territories, says:
We ask Israelis and Palestinians to stop the fighting … killing – no matter where – is not a Godly response. War is not the answer. Negotiations are the proper path to solve conflicts.
Tragedy and horror are daily experiences in Gaza, Syria, Iraq and the Sudan. What our world needs is peace with justice, in place of pain and suffering and violence. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is the answer.
