High Court decision protects children

National Marriage Coalition Coordinator, Gerard Calilhanna, has welcomed the High Court decision striking down the ACT Government’s Marriage Equality (Same–Sex) Bill 2013.  He congratulated the Commonwealth Government on “standing firm on Marriage and defending its Constitutional prerogative to legislate for Marriage for the whole Commonwealth.”  He said:

The push for homosexual ‘marriage’ is an attack on the necessity of motherhood and fatherhood for children.  If we say two men can ‘marry’ we say wives and mothers are neither necessary nor relevant for children.  If we say two women can marry, then husbands and fatherhood are also irrelevant.  A redefinition of marriage to accommodate this is an attack on marriage, as the true meaning and structure of marriage in law and society must be suppressed to make way for the new.  To test the suppression one can see what happens to small business owners in overseas jurisdictions that refuse to support homosexual ‘weddings’.
