In his keynote address to the World Congress of Families held in Sydney last week, former deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. John Anderson, claimed that the traditional family unit was in serious decline, and lamented the lack of reasoned public debate informed by belief in absolute truth or values.
Mr Anderson referred to what he saw as the decaying of the Christian principles on which Western society was founded, warning his audience that they were part of “the generation that squandered a hard earned heritage of reason, of truth, and of family.”
Mr Anderson was one of a panel of international speakers describing how intact marriages and families positively affect children, the economy, and society on a number of levels.
The World Congress of Families aims to “inspire people from all walks of life to consider and implement strategies to help strengthen the natural family, the economy and civil society.
