The news website Christian Today reports that popular British theologian Bishop N.T. Wright has called on all Christians to be part of God’s saving work on Earth by embodying Jesus.
He says the Bible is about much more than “final destiny stuff” and Christians should consider themselves “free samples of Jesus Christ” in the here and now.
A religious conversion experience goes hand in hand with God’s expectation that those who follow the way of Jesus participate with God in filling the world with God’s love and justice.
Bishop Wright says Christ-like living becomes easier the more it is practised. He said explaining about Jesus and salvation would make much more sense if Christians behaved like Jesus in their everyday life.
As Gandhi said, “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” What a wonderful world this would be if we were all more like Jesus Christ in thought, word and deed!
