How do you read the Bible?

How do you read the Bible? Do you read on paper or perhaps an app on your mobile phone or tablet?

Apparently, it makes a difference. According to the research, men are more likely to read on an app – but they don’t retain as much as when they are reading on paper.

Women glean about the same amount whether it is by app or paper.

This is true not only of Bible reading but of comprehension in general – digital reading is popular with males, but it is women who retain more information.

I wonder if you notice a difference?

Of course, you may not read the Bible at all – and I would urge you to pick up a good modern translation and take a good look. You might be surprised by what you find out.

As the say in the ads, you will never, never know if you never, ever…ah, read.

I’m Russell Powell for the NSW Council of Churches.
